US based magazine Cruising World has announced Dufour Yachts as winners of Cruising World Boat of the Year 2009 with its 525 Grand Large model. Also the Dufour 40 won best mid size cruiser prize.

Ramsgate Week

Local Dufour Yachts cleaned up at Ramsgate week with First and Second places!

Peter Richardson's new Dufour 34 Performance took first place, closely followed in second place by another new Dufour, 385 Grand Large, skippered and owned by David Howes, in the cruising class event.

In the preceding year a Dufour 44 Performance Heart Beat II showed a clean transom to completion in the 2007 EORA North Sea series of races being overall class winner for the 2007 season. All yachts were locally supplied.

Dufour new model news

As well as the 34 Evolution, Dufour Yachts have recently developed the 405 Grand Large, recently launched at the Paris Boat Show to much acclaim. This and the 45 Performance, launched earlier in 2008, succeeds the successful 44 Performance as the flagship sports yacht in the range.

Dufour East Coast has had a lively first year as dealers of this fine marquee and are looking forward to more success in 2009. An hour from London and close to Stansted Airport, domestic and foreign customers are well catered for with the large sales hard standing and dedicated afloat finger pontoons, allowing inspection of vessels ashore and afloat. Test sailing is possible throughout the year including Winter!

Top Performance

Dufour Yachts East Coast are renowned for their performance in regattas, with many wins on the international and local circuits.  They also offer a cruising range which achieve fast passages whilst providing luxurious accommodation.

The local Performance 44 cleaned up with most of the trophies in the East Anglian Offshore Racing series, with the end season Trophy award held at the Royal Ostend Yacht Club.  The event was attended by Graham Knight the sail boat broker based at Ipswich Haven office.

The yachts in the Dufour line-up consist of the Performance Range 34, 40 and 45 and cruising Grand Large 365,385,425, 485 and 525.  All boats are RCD category A, suitable for coastal and ocean sailing, and all yachts are available with shoal draft or deep keel options.

A yacht to talk about

Dufour Yachts East Coast, together with Burton Waters, will be holding a Dufour owners end-of-season gathering in October. This will provide an opportunity to build relationships and share a few yarns, whilst enjoying some refreshments. The event is likely to be held at the Ipswich Haven Yacht Club adjacent to the Burton Waters yacht sales site.
